Col. Steven Sheffer, FHPA, MPO
Chief Kevin Guidry, the Chief of Investigations at the Florida Highway Patrol, and Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary Colonel Steven Sheffer, have announced a joint venture between their two respective sections. This venture will partner the FHPA with FHP's Bureau of Investigations to address the increase in driver license fraud, as well as persons driving with suspended or revoked drivers license. The Florida Highway Patrol Auxiliary, a 380 member sworn law enforcement volunteer group, stepped up to the plate to assist with this tremendous challenge. According to Colonel Sheffer, "the FHPA's task force will be an invaluable asset in assisting with dealing with this criminal activity." Together, these two law enforcement units will conduct surveillance and selective law enforcement details throughout the state. These will be aimed at removing dangerous drivers from Florida's roadways, and reduce driver license fraud in the State of Florida. As a volunteer law enforcement program, FHPA's contribution comes at little cost to Florida's taxpayers.
