On 15 May 2010, a Columbus Reserve Officer was on duty at the Race for the Cure event when he experienced chest pains. He was rushed to a hospital where he died of a ruptured aorta.   Reserve Officer Ward was a member of the CPD since 1970 and a member of the Ohio Volunteer Peace Officers Assn.

On Sunday 6 June 2010, Retired Parma Aux. Capt. George Kupar passed away. Capt. Kupar had served the Parma Auxiliary Unit for 52 years before retiring several years ago. During his last few years on the unit he held mostly administrative duties, but did a great job organizing details.
