"Oklahoma County Sheriff Dept is advising numerous roads area closed and all Reserve Officers have been called to duty. All Emergency Managers and first responders are now activated." This is happening today.
Oklahoma County has seen some tragic natural disasters over the past few years. These floods are horrible and we can only pray that there will be no loss of life. Ice and hail storms, tornados, fire storms -- all have hit the county during the past year. In each case, OCSO's Reserve Divison has answered the call surging critical manpower into the crisis to provide police presence, aid victims, conduct search and rescue operations, protect property, control traffic, and ensure emergency responders' safety. Reserve capabilities include a mounted unit, ATVs, dive team, and a host of other capabilities that are largely equipped and maintained at each Reserve Deputy's personal expense.
Jurisdictions that ignore the benefits that Reserve Programs bring do so at their citizen's peril. Tonight, and tomorrow, as full-time law enforcement is stretched to the limit, they can rely on properly trained, professionally equipped, agency experienced and vetted Reserve Law Enforcement to fill the gaps and stand the relief shifts. God Bless everyone in Oklahoma. God Bless our Reserves as they go in harm's way.
