NYSAAP Introduction

E-mail Print PDF

My name is Glenn J. Kearney, and I am a 33 year member of the Nassau County Auxiliary Police. I am in the Massapequa unit.

I am also the President of the New York State Association of Auxiliary Police.

NYSAAP is a fraternal organization supported solely by its members. We represent members of Uniformed Volunteers in Law Enforcement, primarily Auxiliary Police in New York State.

The primary purpose and objective of the Association is to promote and improve the benefits of its members, promote the understanding and cooperation between members of the Association and of professional Law Enforcement agencies with which they interact, and promote the value of volunteer Law Enforcement programs to the communities they serve.

The secondary purpose and objective of the Association shall be to set a standard to allow Auxiliary Units to be organized in municipalities, many of which may not have such organizations as of yet, and assist in legislation that may need to be set or amended.

The Association helps the local Departments share ideas for Recruitment and Training on its website and its webgroup.

We also keep the members informed of any bills in Albany that may have an impact on them and lobby bills on their behalf.

NYSAAP was formed in 2001 and now has over 700 members. We work with the local departments, units & member associations through our 6 regional committees.

Each region has a Regional President that also serves on our State Executive Assembly.
