In a major improvement for officer safety, today, Friday June 25th, the Governor signed an Executive Order putting the Blue Alert HB 1473 into effect.  Maryland's Blue Alert bill was not suppose to take effect until the fall in, but with the recent line of duty death of a Maryland State Trooper and the possibility that the Blue Alert could have help with the investigation of the Trooper's death, Governor O'Malley decided to signan Executive Order.    This act was initiated on behalf of Concerns of Police Survivors.
