CLER's 2010 National Census of RLEOs Begins

E-mail Print PDF

It's that time of year again.  The Council for Law Enforcement Reserves (CLER) has kicked off its 2010 national census of Reserve Law Enforcement Officers.  An added focus will be identification of training requirements for basic RLEO certification, as well as ongoing annual training requirements. Last year, our census identified 71,676 RLEOs.

The RLEO community is a strategic national resource of trained, equipped, and experienced law enforcement personnel.  As with military reserve programs, RLEOs provide an affordable surge capability to back-up full time law enforcement officers.  Reserve officers provide that surge capability internally as organic personnel indoctrinated into the operations and procedures of their agency.
