This is our 1Q 2011 update to Members. We've been very pleased with the continued growth of the Council. Today, we have some 300 members, as well as more than 450 affiliates through our Facebook site. Website activity continues to grow at a steady rate, averaging more than 100 visits daily, and we're now in our third calendar year of operations. Our current focus is to expand our volunteer management team to better-manage the content on our site. Today, the Council operates the most comprehensive reserve-centric resources for current information that specifically relevant to Reserve Country.
What's Reserve Country?
- More than 70,000 commissioned reserve law enforcement officers (RLEOs).
- Support staff for law enforcement reserve programs, including full time LEOs, civilian administrative staff, and agency leadership.
- Stakeholders that include policy makers, political leaders, and communities that owe their public's safety in part to the work and sacrifice of serving RLEOs.
We hope that in the coming years, Reserve Country will continue to expand as jurisdictions everywhere face diminished financial resources. Volunteers can and will fill the gap. 70,000 serving RLEOs prove this point.
Thank you all for belonging to the Council. I want to especially thank members who have contributed articles to the site. It's great to see current news and activities from local reserve programs: these provide excellent insights into the operation and activities that are typical in reserve units.
We look forward to your continued involvement, and to your continued service to your community and nation. Best wishes, and stay safe!
