CLER Accredited RLEOs

E-mail Print PDF

This section features Reserve Law Enforcement Officers (RLEO) accredited by the Council for Law Enforcement Reserves. Accreditation is achieved by each RLEO completing the Officer Survey found in the Member Services area of the ReserveCop.com website. Once completed, the survey will be evaluated by CLER, and a professional rank (professional rating) will be designated for the RLEO.

CLER-Accredited RLEOs must be sworn law enforcement officers who meet all of the certification requirements of their State’s law enforcement certification authority. They may be active with a LERP; or, should be in good standing with their State certification authority and available for association with a LERP.  Retired RLEOs are also eligible to join and become accredited.  It is CLER’s goal to maintain a complete national census of all certified RLEOs. Through CLER and RCC, it is our goal to assist all RLEOs in finding a suitable LERP home; and, to provide information and resources that enhance our membership's understanding of reserve law enforcement.

Once accredited, the RLEO becomes a member of CLER. There is no cost for this service. CLER appreciates the time, dedication, and sacrifice that RLEOs make to serve their communities, and our nation.

The Council ranks RLEOs are into one of three professional categories:

        P.P.O.     Professional Police Officer

        J.P.O.      Journeyman Police Officer

        M.P.O.     Master Police Officer

One's rating may change over time, as a Member gains experience and time in service. To improve your ranking, take the time to update your Member Survey. If you have a dispute regarding your ranking assigned by CLER, please contact the Council Staff at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

NOTE:  Impersonation of a sworn law enforcement officer is a crime in all jurisdictions.  CLER will aggressively pursue charges against anyone who misrepresents their standing or status as a RLEO.

DISCLAIMER:  CLER accreditation makes absolutely no representation as to the RLEO's personal mental of  physical abilities, social skills, judgement, moral or ethical character, reputation, agency standing, or decision making abilities or proclivities.  CLER accreditation relies upon the officer's truthful disclosure of objective information regarding professional history, training, and academic achievement.
