The Council for Law Enforcement Reserves' (CLER's™) aim is to create awareness within the nation's law enforcement community, within our political leadership and throughout our communities that well-run, strongly-supported law enforcement reserve programs (LERPs) are an effective, efficient, and critical best practice for all jurisdictions.  To achieve this—and to achieve the resulting growth opportunities for our reserve law enforcement officers (RLEOs)—CLER™ has the following goals and objectives.

1.  Maintain an Accurate Census.  CLER™ will have the best current information on the numbers and locations of RLEOs and LERPs through surveys found on the ReserveCop.Com™ site.

2.   Educate Decision Makers.  CLER™ provides the knowledge, tools, precedents, processes and practices that enable decision makers to review and benchmark existing reserve programs or to contemplate and implement new LERPs.

3.   Professionalize the Law Enforcement Reserve Community.  Through CLER™'s accreditation and through our provision of best practices, policies, and procedures, LERPs and RLEOs will attain common professional development enabling the widest possible range of opportunities for personal growth and career opportunity.  We also want to support interoperability between RLEOs in multijurisdictional environments.

4.   Build a National Network for RLEOs and their LERPs.  Through membership services at ReserveCop.Com™, CLER™ provides a wide range of resources, services, links, and references that allow the reserve law enforcement community to grow on their own.

5.  Provide a One-Stop-Shop for LERP Expertise.  CLER™ will answer your questions regarding the nation's law enforcement reserve community and all of its aspects.  We can provide advocacy, third party support and advice as needed to preserve, promote, and grow our law enforcement reserves.

6.  Recognition.  Central to CLER's™ mission is its ability to recognize outstanding RLEOs, LERPs, their programs and activities.  Our Accreditation process is the bedrock recognition that we extend to every RLEO and LERP.  From day one, we want to be an important and valued part of your career.
